Staniel Cay is located near the center of the Exuma Chain of Cays called The Exuma's. Its distance of only 75 miles southeast of Nassau and 250 miles east of Florida makes it a top destination by cruisers. The island is less than 2 square miles in total area, but boasts a small airport with a 3,000’ runway. There are a few small stores, a clinic, a church, a marina and The Staniel Cay Yacht Club. Visitors to Staniel Cay will experience a true "out island" adventure, one of the best the Bahamas has to offer.
Staniel Cay is also home to the infamous "Thunderball Grotto", best known as the filming location for James Bond's "Thunderball and Never Say Never". At low tide, snorkelers can swim into the natural fish bowl and swim with the beautiful reef fish that inhabit the grotto. Staniel is surrounded by many other small Cays just a short dingy ride away. Make sure and visit Big Major to feed the wild pigs, or go Twin Cays for a romantic picnic on your own private beach.
