The Exumas: Warderick Wells

Home to the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park Headquarters; Warderick Wells stretches from Wax Cay Cut in the north to Conch Cut in the south.   Since this is a park absolutely nothing may be taken from it.

All fish, plants, animals, etc. are protected and should be left undisturbed to preserve this beautiful park and all the treasures it holds.

There is so much to experience on this small island, anything from bird watching, snorkeling, hiking up rocky bluffs and kayaking thru mangrove creeks.  Near the park office, you will find the skeleton of a 53’ Sperm Whale that died after swallowing a plastic bag.

A tradition at Warderick Wells is to hike to Boo Boo Hill.  It’s located on the highest point of the island.  Cruisers usually leave some type of memento or sign to show that they have been there.  In most cases it’s a piece of old wood or drift wood with their vessel name painted or carved onto it.  I’ve seen jewelry, etc. dangling from the boards, all from people wanting to leave their mark!

Dear David & Jackie,

We are writing to thank you for such an amazing vacation.  This trip was so much more than just a vacation; it was an adventure we’ll never forget.  Who knew that the Bahamas had so much to offer, from the swimming pigs in Big Major to the Iguanas at Allen’s cay and everything in between?  Conch diving, learning how to clean and prepare conch salad and conch chowder; everyday offered a new experience.  Our personal favorite was catching the 200lb marlin while simply trolling.  Being that this wasn’t a fishing charter, it was a very welcomed bonus.  We want to thank you for your hospitality, for making us feel like family and the gift of a new friendship.   We would definitely recommend Fat Bottom Girl Charters to anyone considering this type of vacation.   Save a spot for us next year!

Sincerely,

Ryan and Mimi
